Telstar Energy Wind Turbines 11kV

As part of a key infrastructure project, our client required the design, fabrication, and installation of three GRP (Glass Reinforced Plastic) enclosures to accommodate high-voltage (HV) switchgear and associated auxiliary equipment being supplied by Scottish Power. These enclosures needed to comply not only with Scottish Power’s stringent technical and safety standards but also with local authority building control regulations, presenting a dual set of requirements that demanded a tailored and robust solution.

To meet these standards, the enclosures were designed to be fully insulated, weatherproof, and secure, with careful attention paid to ventilation, access, and internal layout to support the reliable operation of HV equipment. The additional requirements from Scottish Power included specifications around fire resistance, grounding provisions, and internal clearances for safe maintenance access.

Labron Technical Ltd led a comprehensive design process, working closely with both the client and Scottish Power to ensure that all compliance criteria were addressed in full. Following detailed technical reviews and a formal submission process, Labron Technical met with Scottish Power representatives and secured full design approval for all three enclosures.

The client was extremely pleased with the outcome, particularly with the efficiency of the approvals process and the high standard of the finished product. The three GRP enclosures were successfully manufactured, delivered, and installed on-site within a few weeks, contributing to the timely progress of the overall project and ensuring a compliant and future-ready solution for the HV infrastructure.
